With a long history in regenerative permaculture, the Cordon-on-Branch Woolgathering Collective was born in early 2017 out of friendship and a common purpose to compliment the life in our producing orchards and vineyards. In March of that year we obtained our foundation flock of registered Olde English Southdown Babydoll sheep. We were swiftly—and enduringly hence—won over by their gentleness and irresistible charm; it was the best decision we could have made. We began breeding specifically for orchard and vineyard management, to great joy and success.
In the fall of 2021, following their shepherd into the Sierras, the flock made their home among the meadows and silvopastures of Lame Horse Ranch, Shaver Lake, Ca.
We now breed for pets and for breeding stock, while upholding and improving the breed. Our lambs are raised as pasture pets in close and affectionate relation to people and around many other animals in an organic setting. Our sheep are raised on free-range pastures, as they tend the meadows of Lame Horse Ranch in Shaver Lake, Ca, and they nearby vineyards of Campo de Vina in Watts Valley, Ca. Our black and off-white lambs are registered with both OEBSR and NABSSAR, while our spotted lambs are registered only with OEBSR, per registry standards. We keep a closed and disease-free flock.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
